LOUIS DE POORTERE INTROUDCES 'HAUTE COUTURE' AT THE RUG SHOW

Agra from the 80-design Haute Couture collection by Louis De Poortere will officially debut  in the U.S.at The Rug Show in N.Y.

NEW YORK -- Louis de Poortere is unveiling the much-anticipated Haute Couture collection at The Rug Show at the Javits Center here from Sept. 10 - 13, following its debut last week at Maison & Objet in Paris.

"The response in Paris was fantastic and we are expecting the same reaction here in the U.S.," said Thierry Flamant, VP Sales America for Belgium-based Louis de Poortere. "We are reaching new levels of innovation and fashion with this line.  Our Haute Couture broadloom carpet and rugs are completely deserving of their 'high fashion' name," Flamant told RugNews.com

Louis de Poortere's Haute Couture line's Agra collection is shown in a pre-introduction reduced size in Atlanta.

Originally soft-previewed at Domotex in January 2016, tweaks and edits were made, and a few of the sub-collections within Haute Couture were presented in small sample format at the Atlanta International Rug Market in July, 2016.  "The positive feedback customers gave us in Atlanta certainly enticed the mill to fully introduce the line by the New York Rug Show at Javits," Flamant said.

Indeed, the line has been released internationally with 80 designs in multiple colorways. Within the Haute Couture range fall 11 distinctive designs: Zag, Zig, So Chic, Coral, Karl, Giorgio, Jacob, Diamond, Miucca, Agra and Patch. The Haute Couture collection is woven on De Poortere's high speed looms in Belgium, and crafted in a 2.95 meter width.

The Agra design from the Louis de Poortere Haute Couture collection features classic Agra patterns in fashion colors.

Broad enough to include patterns that complement traditional and contemporary interiors, Haute Couture's design inspiration from Morocco, Scandinavia and beyond.

"This line is the culmination of years of weaving advancements at Louis de Poortere. Haute Couture is an exciting new era for our brand," Flamant continued, "because it offers so much versatility for wall to wall product."

"Our rugs are not backed and are true flat weave rugs, produced in Belgian by artisan weavers in a vertically integrated mill. We hang them in 12 x 12" corner samples, not on racks, to emphasize their textile hand and appeal. By being flat woven, the Louis de Poortere rugs are attracting both millennials who can use them for their loft/Boho lifestyle, and by seniors who worry about tripping on thick hand tufted or hand-knotted rugs."

MAD MEN COLLECTION

Louis de Poortere is also showing new updates to the popular Mad Men collection at The Rug Show. The "Griff" designs expands with several new colorways.  "This was an immediately successful nonfigurative pattern. We now have Copper (on black), Taupe and "Noir" a white, grey and black interpretation of the same "Griff" design introduced in January with Turquoise, gold and grey accents," Flamant said.

The "Atlantic" is a design inspired by a French textile artist who lives and works on a small island off the coast of Brittany. The random and irregular stripes represent many small ripples of foam in the surf. The colors vary with the time of the day and the color of the sky: blue, seafoam, gold and grey.

"Babylone" comes from another design inspiration: worn tiles in historic Italian palazzi. It will come in many soft and contemporary colors. The traditional tile designs in contemporary colors blend well with current Italian furniture and interior design looks.

"Herringbone" (formerly introduced as "Skyline") represents a de-structured urban skyline. It comes in three colorways (beige with turquoise, green and taupe details).
