SURYA
SUPPORTS BREAST CANCER
AWARENESS WITH 'THINK PINK'Â CAMPAIGN
CALHOUN, GA -- For the second year, Surya has partnered with the National Breast Cancer
Foundation (NBCF) to help increase awareness of breast cancer and the need for
early detection and treatment. From now through the end of October, as part of
its Think Pink campaign, the company will donate 10% of proceeds from the sale
of 60 pink products to NBCF in support of the foundation' s educational
campaigns, research initiatives and national mammography program.
According to
NBCF, it is estimated that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer
in their lifetime. However, when breast cancer is detected early (at the
localized stage), the five-year survival rate is 98%.
"Even one
death from breast cancer is one too many,†said Satya Tiwari, president of Surya."NBCF continues to be a great champion for women in the fight against breast
cancer and we are pleased to partner with the organization in its ongoing
mission to provide crucial education and support services to women throughout
the world."
In addition
to donations to NBCF, Surya has committed more than $1
million to Akshaya Patra, East Meets West and Project Mala to provide children
in rural India with quality education, nutritious meals and regular access to
healthcare. Surya also sponsors the Veteran Pain Program, an initiative that
provides medical grants to U.S. military veterans to help them resolve chronic
pain.
