2016 AMERICA'S MAGNIFICENT CARPET AWARD WINNER: CREATIVE TOUCH

ATLANTA - Creative Touch, the U.S. arm of Istanbul, Turkey-based ICI International, won the America's Magnificent Carpet Award for best rug in the hand-knotted/flatweave category for rugs priced $100.01 and up per square foot. RugNews.com met with ICI execs at their IMM Cologne 2016 booth last month to discuss the intricacy and history of the winning rug.
The winning Heriz Silk rug by Creative Touch in the 2016 America's Magnificent Carpet Awards is elaborately woven of pure organic silk.

"We use only vegetable dyes, and pure organic silk to make our Silvas Silk collection rugs, because we wanted every detail to be exactly as it was, in this case when the original Heriz carpet was made in 1870," says Tolga Uysal, ICI's publicity and presentation manager. "This is not a reproduction; it is identical to the original, so we call it a clone rug. Even an expert will say they can't see the difference from the original rug. It is very sentimental for us that this rug is made exactly as it was in Turkey so many years ago - even the silk is the same," Uysal said.
"We wanted to create an emotional reaction for the judges this year," explained Baki Ildiz of Creative Touch, which is headquartered in New Jersey. "This rug is of very high quality with a special Heriz design, which makes it so beautiful."
