The 18th annual AD Design Show featured a range of luxe contemporary designs for attendees in search of inspiration.

NEW YORK -- The 18th annual Architectural Digetst Design Show hosted recently in NYC featured a range of luxe area rug makers, including newcomers Apadana Fine Rugs, Landry & Arcari and Rugs & Kilim.


The show provides a snapshot of what the high-end of the market expects to appeal most to the interior designers and consumers walking the fair. And this year's event drew a record-breaking number of visitors and showcased a myriad of new products and trends from over 400 brands in the luxury design market. Total attendance continued its seven-year-trend with nearly double-digit increases with design trade attendance showing the largest increase of 16 percent year-over-year.

APADANA FINE RUGS

Apadana introduced a new assortment that updates the classic Soumak rug at the AD Design Show.

Connecticut-based rug showroom Apadana debuted at the spring 2019 AD Design Show and showcased samples of its customizable area rugs. On display were its popular Boho collection of bamboo silk and wool area rugs. That range is available in a range of colors from blues to browns to pinks, and just rolled out a classic-inspired pattern in the construction.

AVO


Avo's AD Design booth in the show's Made galleries featured a leather color wheel and its latest hand-woven tapestries.

Brooklyn-based cowhide and woven-leather rugs and textile studio picked up an AD Design Show IFDA Best Textiles Award. The workshop, which was founded in 2014, showcased a new line of woven rugs and textiles.

CREATIVE TOUCH


Creative Touch's gallery-style booth showcased its latest designs, including a rug from its new program with architect Robin Gray and an abstract design from its Erinn V. program.

Returning AD exhibitor, Creative Touch offered a fist look at its new collaboration with architect Robin Gray, founder of the Santa Fe, New Mexico-based Robin Gray Design. "We took over her whole collection," Baki Ildiz, told RugNews.com, pointing out that the rugs are crafted in Nepal in a broad range or styles from abstract to geometric to global. Also on show at the AD booth was a design from Creative Touch's recently introduced partnership with interior designer Erinn Valencich's Erinn V.

FRENCH ACCENTS RUGS

French Accents showcases its updated twist on traditional area rug motifs with a new Retro Classic collection Karabagh design in wool (4042).


French Accents Rugs had plenty of fresh looks to show shoppers of the AD Design Show. Not only did the company debut its latest contemporary collection of "destroyed" designs called Deconstructed, it also presented its modernized take on traditional area rug motifs from its popular Retro Classics collection.

INIGO ELIZALDE


R
ug and textile designer Inigo Elizalde introduces a new Nepalese hand-knotted rug collection called Nido.


NYC rug and textile designer Inigo Elizalde returns to the AD Design Show with a his new Nido collection of luxe 200 knot Nepalese hand-knotted area rugs are crafted of Tibetan highland wool and bamboo fiber. These rugs contain 12 different colors of yarn. Nido also includes designs made in a handwoven flatweave construction crafted of dyed abaca.


Inigo Elizalde introduces its Nido collection which includes abaca accent rugs, pictured, as well as Nepalese hand-knotted rugs.

JAN KATH DESIGN


Jan Kath's statement making booth showcases its vibrant take on contemporary area rug designs.

Jan Kath Design returns AD Design Show and showcases a range of vibrantly colored designs. In Skulls, the German-based design studio of Jan Kath, buries a series of skulls in classic Persian rug patterns. The company also introduces Ballpoint, a range of high-low scratch-like designs.

Jan Kath updates classic Persian motifs in Skull, which features a series of skulls hidden in the design.


LANDRY & ARCARI

Boston-area showroom Landry & Arcari, which has three Massachusetts locations, is spreading its wings and introduced New York area designers and buyers to its latest updated area rug assortment including several modernized Persian rug motifs and the latest designs from European brand Tissage.

MARC PHILLIPS


Marc Phillips introduces the Rebel collection at the AD Design Show.

Marc Phillips goes for impact at the spring 2019 AD Design Show unveiling an edgy range of hand-tufted leather and silk designs called Rebel. The company made a dramatic statement showcasing the assortment in all black, though other colorways are available.

NASIRI


Nasiri also showcases new designs to its Mid-Century Modern collection of flatweaves.

Flatweave specialist Nasiri continues to expand its assortment adding new looks to its handmade Charmo collection crafted of hand-spun wool and cotton. The New York rug specialist also continues to grow its popular Mid-Century Modern assortment of flatweaves.

NEW ENGLAND COLLECTION



 New England Collection showcased its latest cotton and wool designs from its American Hooked and Swedish collection including, clockwise from top left, design 1180, 1243A, 1245A  and 1248A.


The New England Collection showcased new designs in its popular American Hooked collection of cotton and wool area rugs. It also continues to add to its range of Scandinavian-inspired designs displaying those as well.

RUG & KILIM



Josh Nazmiyal of Rug & Kilim shared details on his company's offering of Mid-Century Modern rugs at his inaugural AD Design Show.


Rug & Kilim marked its debut at the AD Design Show earlier this spring. The company highlighted its popular -- and growing -- Mid-Century Modern collection showcasing a geometric black & white design. It also chose to showcase for the first time its Antique collection.


Rug & Kilim, known for its extensive collection of Scandinavian flatweaves, showcased a graphic new Mid-Century Modern collection rug (18496)

TIBETANO


Tibetano's Shahram Nazar introduces its hand-knot wool and silk Newport design at AD Home.

Tibetano, a long-time AD Design Show exhibitor, returns to market with samples and full-size area rug designs. On show were samples of its latest the wool and silk rugs, an abstract design from its licensed CrushWrks collection, Scandinavian flatweave and Moroccan-inspired hand-knotted high-low wool design.


Tibetano returns to the AD Design Show playing up rugs in contemporary, Scandinavian and Moroccan styles.


TIBET HOME


Tibet Home features a mix or its contemporary Tibetan rugs at the spring 2019 AD Design Show.


New York City bespoke rug studio Tibetan Home, which focuses exclusively on hand-crafted Tibetan rugs and pillows, showcased its Tibetan-style interpretation of the contemporary rug genre  at the recent edition of the AD Design Show.Back
