ATLANTA -- In addition to introducing a walloping 11 new collections and 100 new designs at the winter 2017 Atlanta International Rug Market, Oriental Weavers' dramatic visual merchandising earned its showroom a Visual Display Award in the semi-annual AmericasMart Atlanta competition.
The company's third floor showroom in Building 1 featured dramatic displays starring its new Evolution and Bohemian collections, each indicative of important design trends emerging at market.
Oriental Weavers' David Moss, regional vice president-south, and Pat Muschamp, vice president of sales, accept the Visual Display Award from AmericasMart's Kevin Malkiewicz at the January 2017 Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market.
Evolution, which was a major market hit for Oriental Weavers, adapts the look of elements from the natural landscape to create 16 abstract designs in the debut collection. The inspiration comes from natural processes such as oxidation, patina and the weathered surfaces of rust, bark and stone.
Machine woven in the U.S.A. in a blend of nylon and polypropylene, Evolution rugs use a mixture of textured yarns, both shiny and matte, and are available in seven sizes. Retail for the 5'3" x 7'6" is $449.
A show stopping display of Oriental Weavers' new Bohemian collection rugs helped garner a Best of Floor award, and captured the attention of retailers, making the premiering line a best-seller at market.
The Bohemian collection exemplifies fashion's resurging interest in traditional patterns reworked in fun modern colors. Machine woven of polypropylene, the new range features bright hues in warm tones of magenta, tangerine and citron, as well as cool shades of amethyst and light turquoise balanced by earthy charcoal and oyster.
OW's Bohemian line of 16 introductory designs explores the use of graphic tile patterns, traditional folk motifs and large scale Persian medallions, in a loose, casual weave. The collection is available in six sizes. Retail for the 5'3" x 7'6" is $299.
